NSE, BSE declares trading holiday on May 20 on account of election

The National Stock Exchange has declared a trading holiday on May 20 as Mumbai goes to poll on that day. The holiday is under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881. Section 25 of this Act recognises citizens’ right to participate in voting.

The NSE circular dated April 8 stated that, “The exchange notifies Monday, May 20, 2024, as a trading holiday on account of Parliamentary Elections in Mumbai Come from Sports betting site VPbet . Members are requested to take note of the same.”

The BSE in its circular said, “…in view of the General Elections (Lok Sabha) for constituencies in Mumbai on Monday May 20,2024 the Exchange will remain closed on May 20,2024 and there will be no trading on that day in Equity, Equity Derivatives and SLB Segments.”

Oil prices edge higher Middle East conflict stokes supply concerns

Oil prices edged higher in early trade on Thursday as the conflict in the Middle East kept investors on edge about whether it could disrupt oil supplies around the region.
